Hi Folks. This is my first post here.
I'm a professional organist and have recently aquired a mint condition GA2 organ and I need to find a way to disable the rhythms from the thumb pistons. I cannot find any information in the owners manual and I'm stuck. Grateful for any help. Many thanks.

Re: Technics GA2 Organ - Thumb Pistons

Hi, Welcome to the site, Lets see if we can sort out your enquiry. The Registration pistons operate in two modes "Normal" and "Expand" This is accessed in the "Memory and Control" menu. In Normal mode your registration is stored by voice and volume, when set to Expand mode the extra details are added which include the Style / Tempo,
Easy set- if you press and HOLD the SET button for a few seconds the display will change and will show the page "Panel Memory Mode" here you can switch between the two modes.
I would press"Display Hold" to give you time to familiarise yourself with the page details

Point to bear in mind is make a copy of your settings in Normal mode by saving to disc, again this will help you get used to the way Technics works.

personal note I used to be a Yamaha Multi-Keyboard Specialist and getting used to the Technic's way should not take you very long to get your head around the odd quirks.Once mastered the operating system is easy to use.
Best regards John Dawson.

PS. any other problems don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Technics GA2 Organ - Thumb Pistons

Hi John

Problem solved! Thank you so much for the clear instruction. I was thinking there must be some way of disabling the rhythms from the pistons. I used to have a Yamaha EL90 and was looking for a 'disable' button or switch somewhere. I've now found what you are talking about and the organ is doing what I want. As yet, I haven't tried the disk drive as I'm a little unsure about saving settings but I'll get to that soon. I'm very impressed with the whole sound of the GA2 and have now set the pistons to something which is useful to me and it's sounding great.

I'm also finding that because the sound system is so good I can set the various levels to 100 and it leaves me headroom if I want to bring some instrument out. As I'm only using the instrument at home in a rather small lounge room, it still gives me enough volume to literally 'rattle the rafters'.

Much appreciated and I'll probably be back seeking other information before too long.
