I have a couple questions regarding SXGA3

1. Is there any place one can download styles from other Technics organs to supplement those on the GA3. I expect there are different styles contained within the FA and other GA series which would compatible with the GA3 system.

2. I have several professional style disks in which a style will have 6 parts, one of them being a solo part as with newer Technics KN keyboards. I was wondering if there is any documentation available as to how to construct a six part style like these that would work on the GA series.

Thanks for you help
Steve

Re: Adding styles and style parts for Technics SXGA3

Hi Steve, Let's take your topics as they come:-
Firstly your question regarding extra styles, the GA, FA and G/F100 models all have the same set of styles and as they were derived from the KN2000. The composer section has a capacity of 8600 notes (or events) which is broken down to Bass, Drums, Acc parts 1,2 and 3. So this does limit you composer in regard to the fact Technics stopped Organ production in 1996 EA/GA 1994, this may have differed in the US. but I doubt there was much difference.
Secondly, you talk of software with 6 parts, I have known of this for Keyboards but not the organ market. I would be interested in what styles you have ?. As far as documentation. There is no published way to create 6 parts on a 3 part composer that I am aware of ( I could be proved wrong and would love to find a way of how to do it ) I Don't know if I mentioned a book called "Exploring the KN2000" it is rare nowadays it also contains the details about basic voice editing and is great reading and I would feel if you can get a copy it would be of interest.( It come up on Ebay in Europe but not very often)
Best regards John.

Re: Adding styles and style parts for Technics SXGA3

Hi John

Thanks for the reply. I have to agree that for the most part the GA/FA/F stlyes are probably within 95% of each other but also would think that there would be a few differences. I have some EA styles converted for the GA which are different that than the original set. Was hoping that maybe there would be a larger base of different styles across the years of manufacturing.

For the second part of my question I probably used the wrong terminology. I was not referring to the number of accompaniment parts (as GA is limited to 3 plus bass and drums) but rather referring to an individual rhythm that style will have 4 to 6 different variations, some of which have a solo variation. The solo plays a musical passage on its own with chord changes, typically 12-16 bars and I suspect is nothing more that a midi snippet converted to technics format. Not sure of the source as I have so many styles on USB (yes my GA has a USB drive now) but think they may have been converted from KN type styles or performances. Or they may be from advanced Techincs music style collections such as the Americana series and others. When I acquired the organ it came with over 100 disks that are now loaded to the usb stick which as you may know loses some identity as the overall disk name is lost in translation. In reality the 6 variation styles operate almost like the performance pads of KN models of which two are marked as solo. If you open the attached CMP file in notepad, in the first 10 or so lines you can see that there are 5 different arrangements called out and a time out (solo). Then 5 more arrangements and a time out plus (another solo but different from first). Wish there were a shareware editor for these styles. If I nail down where these all have come from I will let you know.

Any way as you suggest there is probably no real docs on this or even software that would make like easy to convert midi files to styles, with exception of EMC that is a bit beyond my financial justification. Take care.

Steve
