When playing Piano with the Technic Chord on I get the previous key sounding again if I release the key before the current key. To experience this : select Concert Grand, turn on Techni-Chord, press for example middle E, press middle G without release middle E and then with both keys pressed down, release the E key. You will hear the E note again as the key is raised.

Also if you play two keys from different octaves at the same time, for example middle Eb and Eb of the next octave up, you will experience the same effect as you release middle Eb with the other Eb still pressed. I like to play Honkey-Tonk style spreading my hands over the two octaves with the Techni-Chord on but I get this echo from the lower octave when the lower key is released. Unless I release the higher Eb first.

For some reason the Techni-Chord which I assume is the harmony equivalent of the Tyros causes this unwanted effect. I think Part 4 is used for the harmony and have tried to change the settings but to no avail.

I don't get this on the Tyros. Is there any settings I can change to avoid this “echo” on the KN 7000.

Re: Note sounding again when key is raised with TechniChord on.

Hi Malcolm,

That is how Technichord works, it plays the harmony chord relative to the lowest note you are fingering. It's not really intended for you to play more than one note when you're using it. It will sound better (if you play in the style you describe) with more sustained sounds such as bigband voices. However, there are a few things you can do to improve it slightly. Make sure you don't have the Solo button on for any of the parts. Also, change the Technichord so that it is set to Conductor rather than Part 4. These won't entirely suit you but will be closer to what you're trying to do. Honkytonk will sound better without Technichord on, or maybe try setting it to an Octave harmony. Hope that helps a little.

Best wishes,
Mike

Thanks Mike. I've tried all you suggested but I'm still not satisfied with the outcome. There's always an echo when I release one note to play another .... unless I play staccato which is inappropriate when it comes to honky-tonk. I guess I'll just have to use the Tyros for playing honky-tonk style.

I guess you're right regarding the Honky Tonk style, it is probably best not to use Technichord and add the full chords in the right hand.

Here's an article that partly discusses this subject too.
