Hi, I'm new to this forum and to Technics KN series instrument generally but have had a KN 5000 for about a year, however...

I've just purchased a KN 6000 today and I'm having problems with the Foot Controllers I've added from my old machine - a KN 5000, where they work fine. The Controllers I'm using are a Mono Pole switch in each of Footswitch 1 & Footwitch 2 inputs. I also have the four switch Technics unit SZ FC2. Is there any reason why they would not work? Frankly I'm at a loss.

Just going back to the keyboard after writing this - it's been off about 20 minutes, I find the controllers are working, but then after a couple of minutes of use, go off. So it seems the error is intermittent. Is this common, or is this the first anyone has heard of it?

45 mins and another update. Rather than intermittent, it seems after the instrument is on for a short time (10 mins maybe), then the foot controllers cease to work. Is this a voltage problem maybe?

Re: Problems with Foot Controllers

Hi MrQuerty,

Congrats on getting your KN6000. Lots of fun!

Hopefully it is not something serious so try cleaning the connection contacts on the footswitches, especially the multi-switch.

Then, try them one at a time, leaving the others unplugged, in order to try to determine whether the issue relates to the keyboard or one particular switch.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Re: Problems with Foot Controllers

Hi Mike,

Apologies again for not getting back sooner. Thanks I'm looking forward to exploring the KN6000 - so far I'm loving it despite a few teething problems. After further experimentation and regular use (I use the keyboard with a band, so I regularly transport it and use it's line outputs) techie friends are suggesting dry solder joints and perhaps replacing the 6mm Jack sockets, as they seem to be malfunctioning with prolong use.

Certainly, your suggestion of trying the outputs and inputs one at a time revealed that using one or an another could adversely affect adjacent sockets.

What do you think - and has anybody else experienced faults with these inputs and outputs?
