Hi all

I currently have a KN2600 and I also have a line on a KN6000 for very reasonable price. The 2600 gets little use as would the 6000 but I like some of the Technics features and would like to have at least one later model KN in my collection of keyboards. My question would if you had to choose would you keep the 2600 or sell it and go for the 6000, and why? Of course the obvious reply would be to have both but I am really interested in hearing the opinions of those who have had experience with both. Thanks

Re: KN6000 or 2600 - Which is better

I have never owned a KN2600 but the model number suggests to me it will be earlier tech than the KN6000. It depends on what the price is but I've owned a KN6500 for several years and can vouch for its performance and features - I paid around £350 ($400?) a few years back. I also own a KN800 and prefer some of the voices on that instrument so maybe you should consider this aspect. If you can get to listen to the KN6000, see if you prefer some of the sounds of your current instrument.

If the price is really good, you might want to get the KN6000 and use both instruments with midi connections - then you'll get the benefits of the voices you already have plus the more recent features of the later model. It is possible one of the other members of this forum can give you a more useful answer but I can certainly recommend the 6000, 6500 & 7000 for the breadth of features they provide and the scope they offer.

Good luck,
Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for you input and comments. Actually the 2600 was the last arranger keyboard Technics made and was released four years after the 6000. But that doesn't always mean newer is better. That's why I am hoping to get feedback from some who have experienced both. The 6000 I have in mind is under $400 US, so there could be a chance a having both at that level. Anyway we shall see. Thanks

Re: KN6000 or 2600 - Which is better

A bit more info for you Steve. Whilst the KN6000 styles/rhythms will work in the KN2600. the reverse is not true. The KN2600 is only SD Card ready as you are aware, and it wasn't until the KN7000 was launched prior to the KN2600 that SD Card technology was used for the first time.
My advice to you would be to buy a KN7000 for total compatibility between that which you have and a future purchase.
