Re: Broken Key

Hi Paul, you are asking about a KN 600, but your profile shows you have a KN 6000. Just checking which on we need the info on as there is a few differences that are important when stripping the keyboard down to work on the Key frame.
You say when the key comes up it is proud of the others, a question, does the key feel firm when up if you try and move it side to side, because on the underside of the Key frame is a layer of felt, depending on the model this is between 3 and 6mm thick if this has moved it can let the keys become uneven, This is also depending on the fact that the Key itself is undamaged,
I just need to confirm the model as to tell you how to proceed,
Regards John.

Re: Broken Key

Thanks for the reply ...I have the KN6000 model and the key is pointed upward..It is also broken at the tip of the key however I can still push down on it to make a sound ...When pushing down it first stops in the "normal " position and I have to push a little harder...

Re: Broken Key

Hi Paul, it is not too hard to take the KN6000 apart, you will need a Philips head/ crosspoint screwdriver with at least 4" between tip and handle as some of the case mounting screws are well recessed into the bottom of the keyboard.once the screws are out,you can lift of the base CARE needed, wires will be attached take care not to strain the wires.this will let you get to the key frame, to remove follow the instructions in the service manual. which you can download for FREE from the members area.determine which key is broken possibly the 2 pieces that stop the key from lifting too high. if the felt has moved it may be able to be pushed back into line.a little dab of contact glue can hold in place. if key is broken a new key will need to be obtained, they come up on Ebay in the States ,I think if I gave you an English supplier the postage costs would be horrific !!!!!!!!. re assembly obviously is the reverse of strip down. By the way not being rude Unplug thr Power before starting, we don't want Fried members LOL>
Regards John.
