SD cards

Hi, just wondered if there is a limit to the capacity of SD cards used in Technics keyboards. I tried to use an 8 GB one recently in my KN2600 but it wouldn't work, couldn't even format it, also tried an old 1 GB card but the same results. The card I use…

I tried to use an 8 GB one recently in my KN2600 but it wouldn't work, couldn't even format it, also tried an old 1 GB card but the same results. The card I use in the keyboard is only 512 mb and although it works perfectly I would like the option to use a larger capacity card as the real small ones are almost impossible to get.

Re: SD cards

Hi Carryduff,

KN2600 (and KN7000) supports 'SD Secure' cards (they must be marked as such, not anything else such as SDHC, it must say SD Secure).

The size must be 1Gb maximum. Smaller ones seem to work marginally faster in my experience but I'm not certain whether that's my imagination!

Before some other members correct me, the keyboards can use some 2Gb SD Secure cards but they can only use 1Gb of their space. I avoid using 2Gb cards because I don't know for sure how reliable they would be in the long run.

When KN2600 came out in 2003 it was about £1100 and a 1Gb SD Secure card was about £200. 2Gb cards were 'being planned'. If KN2600 had depreciated at the same rate as SD Cards they would now cost £55. Makes you think!

Best wishes,
Mike
