Hello

I am new to this forum and really hoping someone can help me.

I currently own a Technics KN2600 (amongst other keyboards) and am trying to get older Technics KN1500 files and songs to work on my KN2600.
I have downloaded SD KN Explorer, followed the instructions and successfully managed to transfer files from my KN1500 Floppy Disks onto a 1GB SD card (formatted on the keyboard).

However when I insert the SD card into the KN2600 I get error 80 saying ' this is from a different Technics device' or something of that type and will not load these files.
These files used to work on a KN1600 (which I previously owned) and not sure if I have done something incorrectly or not compatible.

This website suggests that the KN2600 can read files from technics KN3000 keyboard onwards and the KN1600 came out after the KN3000 & KN5000 so thought this should work.

Please can someone advise as I really wanted to rescue my old songs onto SD card and finish them properly for my daughter.

Kind regards
Gurajit

Re: KN2600 not reading KN1500 files

Hi Gurajit, Welcome to the site, I have had a number of people with problems like yours, There is a number of issues with the way Technics numbered their keyboard models. The KN1500 was later than the KN3000 as the used to launch a top model then a year or so later launch the so called a"baby" models and this causes problems with Disk data compatibility. The KN1500 was a model my son had so I have quite a bit of knowledge of file transfer. May I recommend you send me a copy of a disk in question so I can see if I can uplift it to be compatible with your KN2600. I would be willing to try for you. Please let me know what you would let me know your thoughts.
Regards John

Re: KN2600 not reading KN1500 files

Hello John

Happy New Year and thank you ever so much for your prompt response - it's much appreciated.

It's great to know that there are some very pro-active Technics keyboard members out there who love and know these keyboards. It's a shame Panasonic/Technics stop producing these as they still sound better than some newer Yamaha & Roland Keyboards.

I would be more than happy for you to have a go and happy to send you some KN1500 files. I am at work now right now and should be home by 5pm so wanted to ask - do I just attach a file here or shall I email to you privately?

Kind regards
Gurajit
