Re: Audio Recorder

Recording KN2600 with Audio Recorder

- Switch off the KN2600
- Start laptop/PC and after you logon to Windows,
connect both ends of the USB Cable.
- Switch on the KN2600
- Windows will detect the KN2600 connection and watch for the following two messages:
1) Installing new device driver
2) Your device is ready for use
- You should be able to click on the icon on the status bar pointed to by the above message and see
"Panasonic musical instrument ready for use"

Windows will do the following automatically but worth checking.
- Control panel --> Sound ( or something similar )
- Check Recording Tab has selected the Panasonic instrument.
- If not select it and you can change the description if you like.
-Windows might have named it Microphone 2 or something.

All done, now to record.
- Open Audio Recorder, select File New.
- Click on the Red record button and play a few notes for about 15 seconds.
- You should see the left hand side recording level flashing with yellow bars as you play.

No luck? Try this little trick. I had to.
- Exit the Audio recorder
- Keep the KN2600 switched on and pull the USB plug from the laptop/PC.
- Push it back in after a couple of seconds.
- Open the Audio Recorder and try recording again.

This time the recording worked and I saved and played back the .wav file without a problem.

Saving MP3
- You can try saving the recording as MP3 with file-->Save As.
- A message comes up saying compression will take a long time.
- Press OK.
- Message should be replaced with a horizontal progress level bar gauge and complete.
- Didn't work for me this time but I'm sure on a different laptop I might have had it working. Too long to recall.

Or to get MP3 you can use a free tool from the web to convert from WAV to MP3.

Good luck!

Re: Audio Recorder

Thanks Johns for you reply,
Window dont detect the usb connection ,I try the little trick but no luck..It is the intern microphone that is recording not the notes on the keyboard
Should I de install the drivers and start over again?
See the properties about the pilots

Re: Audio Recorder

Hi,
The pictures show that the Audio Recorder is working fine.
You should try Control Panel --> Sound dialog.

Click on Play Back Tab and check if you have two or more Speakers. One will be your laptop/PC speaker the other should be the Panasonic Musical Instrument (The KN 2600).

Plugging in the USB while keyboard is On, should make it appear and pulling out the USB (PC end) shoukd make it disappear.

If you have the KN2600 on the Windows Sound menu right clck and press Test. A short scales of 3 notes up and down should sound on the keyboard.

If it's fine upto now, goto the Sound menu recording tab and see that you have the desktop microphone as well as the Panasonic instrument.

OK so if you have none of these, keep the sound dialog vsible and try removing and plugging the Keyboard USB cable into a different port.
This will take a minute or two while Windows configures itself.
Failing all these you can try a different cable. Typically USB printers have a similar cable.

Which version of Windows are you using?

Re: Audio Recorder

Hi John Now the audio recorder is working
I convert a sequencer to mp3 and save it on desktop
When I record the sound is coming from the keyboard
When I record the yellow line (volume) its very high and if I reduce the sound from the keyboard its the same thing
I joint the mp3 and its very distorted
Thanks again very appreciated

Re: Audio Recorder

Excellent! Home straight now.
You may be able to reduce the high input level this way.

Back to the Control Panel->Sound->Recording Tab. Right click the Panasonic Instrument and select properties.
Here you should find a tab called level. Mine had the default setting at 25, so you could check and adjust yours downwards to see if the distortion clears.
I have attached a picture.
You will notice I have changed the description to say "KN2600 USB Connection" but in yours Windows might say Microphone.

Good Luck and happy recording!

Re: Audio Recorder

Check the Control panel Sound menu Recording and make sure the Green check is next to the Panasonic Instrument and not the Microphone.
You can select the Microphone and disable it as well (temporarily) to be sure.
Or you can mute the microphone.
This link has some pictures on how to do it. Mute the laptop speakers if you have to.

But everytime you make a change, restart the Audio Recorder if it happened to be open.

Re: Audio Recorder

Hi Howard,
That's great. Counting frim the left of the keyboard, with your yellow marked key as number 1, my broken one is number 5 black key. B-Flat
Don't count the white notes. I'll send you my address to your email.

I will check how I transferred the SD-Audio. But I remember it was through SD-Jukebox.
