Good day, I have a problem with the Transpose selection of an SX-EX5L organ. Out of the 12 possible selections only 3 will change key. When I select the default C selection and press middle C then I get the sound of the lower F#.. When I select D# or E and press middle C I get the tone of A. When I select D on Transpose I get middle C on A#. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be. An inspection of the 12 way switch revealed no problem. Does anyone know where I can find a circuit diagram for this organ. Thank you in advance.

Re: Technics SX-EX5L Electronic Organ

I'm afraid I don't have the diagram either. Most Technics organs are not discrete technology (except those with card frames like the 55 and 66) but there maybe an interface between the transpose and the rest of the circuitry based on straight forward ttl or cmos logic but I doubt it. This is recent enough to be microprocessor driven and having a boot sequence which could download things to all the sub processors which includes the keyboard scanners and any other LSI chip in the organ. It would be a good idea to unplug the board beneath the transpose switch and reconnect as the sub processors are driven by either a 4 bit or 8 bit bus and just moving the contacts on any of the plugs and sockets can clear the problem. If I come across the manual I'll have a look through it and let you know some more!
