Hi everybody,

I'm here again looking for another info for my piano. Being it now around 30 years old I thought it could be a good idea to change the speakers. Unfortunately I cannot find anybody around selling them, and I don't have any other specification than the impedance, 8 ohms, stamped on the backside of them.

Does anybody knows the full specification of them (i.e. how many W) in order to look for compatible ones?

Thanks in advance
Jimmi

Re: Speakers for PX201

I can't remember the sizes of these speakers but over the years I have fitted speakers from many of the generic manufacturers all with little or no problems. 8 ohm speakers are correct. I would suggest you find speakers with the correct diameter for the mounting points then find some with a decent weight rather than light weight ones as ones with mass tend to have a better low end response and if possible either foam or rubber cone surrounds. There are no end of suitable models. I would advise you to search through the likes of EBay. The power rating is largely unimportant as your piano is only going to produce some 20 watts maximum and a decent heavy duty speaker will more than cope with the sound.

Technics has used 4, 4.5, 5, 5.25, and 6 inch speakers in their keyboards although their organs go much bigger with 12 inch for bass twin 6 or 8 inch midrange and either compression drivers or small hi-fi tweeters for the top end.
