Hi,

I have a Technics PX-201. I get no audible sound from the speakers and only a very quiet output over the aux output (that I need an external amp to even really hear).

I thought the issue was the amp board not delivering enough power, so I replaced it with an identical working board I got off of the internet. However this did not fix the issue, with the same quiet sound being output over aux.

I'm quite stumped as I know the amp is fine and I know the tone chip and ROMs are fine as the piano plays it's keys and demo recordings perfectly well.

Any ideas?

Hi,

A few ideas to try.

Does the volume slider make any difference to the output?

Try disconnecting the pedal cable (maybe a bad connection from the soft pedal would make it quiet).

How is the volume through headphones?

Try playing something through AUX input, such as a CD player, how is the volume of that?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,

> Does the volume slider make any difference to the output?

It does, the volume scales with the slider. I've also bypassed the slider electrically and that doesn't help either.

Doesn't help sad

> How is the volume through headphones?

Barely audible without an external amp. With an external amp on max it's audible but with a lot of hiss, think bad AM radio.

> Try playing something through AUX input, such as a CD player, how is the volume of that?

Inaudible without an amp.

Thanks a lot Mike smiling

Sorry, it's beyond my limited engineering capabilities. Hopefully, someone more experienced will be able to help.

Thanks,

I messed up a soldering job (inexperienced) and one of the circuit boards popped, so it's of no concern anymore! New piano it is.

Kawai CA98 in polished ebony is the plan
