Hi everybody,

I'm pretty desperate: My P50 had been standing unused for a while. When I wanted to use it again, I couldn't switch on the piano anymore. The power supply unit provides power, but the piano doesn't respond to pressing the power button. All LEDs are dark. Is this error known or is there a fuse that could be replaced? Does anyone know anything about this piano? Is it possible to replace a defective circuit board?

Thank you very much for your answer and Merry Christmas.

Daniel

Re: P50 can't be switched on anymore

Hi

There are no replacement boards that I know of. There is no support direct from Technics in any shape or form. The most likely issue is that the simple switch mode power supply circuit on the main voice board has failed. Every Technics keyboard will suffer from this at some point so your P50 is no different to any of the others. It is quite amazing they have worked for so long as they are not exactly well made and lack some very basic engineering to keep them healthy.
No fuses to replace I'm afraid its not a user fixable problem. You need a local engineer to look at it for you and probably replace the 1000uf 10volt capacitor on the main voice board as a start.
