My KN6000 keeps going to the format disk menu instead of loading. It's a disk I've recorded to already. Help, please!

Re: KN6000 won't load discsHi, Welcome to the site. My name Is John, and I am part of the Admin team. The fault you are describing is not uncommon due to the age of your keyboard. The fault you are experiencing is usually caused by a worn disk or contamination on the heads of the disk reader. First thing to try is to use another disk and see if this cures the problem you require some new disks, The other thing I would suggest is you obtain a disk cleaning kit these are not expensive but you may need to shop online as most stores have stopped stocking anything for floppy disk drives now we are in the age of flash drives. When you think about it your keyboard is now about 16 to 18 years old, so it is not unusual for a little maintenance at this age, I have a KN1000 from 1990 and had to clean the read heads in the disk drive just last year other than that still gives great service. If i can be of any further help please post.

Re: KN6000 won't load discsCleaning it didn't work. I have it apart; probably going to try a usb emulator. When I unplugged the floppy drive, there seems to be one pin missing. Could that be the problem? If it is, I suppose the emulator might solve it. Any suggestions about which emulator to get?
