Hello

I am new to the site, and impressed with the range of contents and the helpful friendly comments on members' instruments and problems. We have a PR51 in church. It has occasional use, is kept covered and is in good condition. Very occasionally the keys won't make any sound while all other functions such as display screen and demo seem to work normally. Switching on & off a number of times doesn't help. Then next day everything is back to normal without doing anything to it This has happened maybe three or four times in the ten years we have had it. Any ideas please? Thanks Richard [Hereford area]

Re: PR51 Keys not sounding

Hi there

Much as I would like to say there is an easy fix for this I somehow think that there may be an issue that needs the machine to be opened and investigated. With everything on the voice board and audio output working fine (display, demo etc all working) I would think you may have an issue with the keyboard controller IC and it not getting the start up process passed to it properly. Churches are always difficult for electronic products as they follow much of the outside temperature and humidity for 90% of the time and then someone comes in for a couple of hours and warms the place up for the congregation. My guess would be that the plug that attaches the keyboard to the main board is slightly dirty and that removing it and plugging it back in again might just fix the problem. If you want a step by step guide then by all means let me know.

Regards
