Hi Everyone,

I thought I would just post a message about the website and the surveys we have running, to answer some of the many questions I get asked a lot:

Q - Are we Technics?

A - No, this website is not connected with Technics or Panasonic. All trademarks are acknowledged and we only publish files that are freely available on the Internet or that we (including the Members) create ourselves. This website is run by Technics fans for other fans to enjoy and participate in.

Q - Is Technics going to manufacture instruments again?

A - I have no idea and I doubt it. I'm not connected with Technics and never have been I am just a fan the same as you smiling

Q - Can you buy an instrument or cable from me?

A - If you want me to help you source a second-hand instrument in the UK I might help you do that. If you need a cable or cord I will help you to understand what you need and I might be able to help you get hold of it but I don't stock anything, I'm not a keyboard shop or anything like that, I work full-time in a completely different industry.

Q - I find it difficult to find what I want here, or I find the design confusing, how can I find "such-and-such"?

A - If you find the main interfaces of the websites confusing please log in and go to the Members Area. To get to the Members Area you just click on your username. The Members Area has a very simple interface and everything you can find to download is available there. Anything that is on the main pages such as Styles, Sounds, Manuals etc is duplicated in the Members Area and you will probably find it simpler to find what you are looking for there.

The websites (five at the moment) have over 1000 pages and they are all edited by me (ie one person). I won't be changing the designs anytime soon. The main pages of the website contain lots of information for you to read as well as the downloads. I hope you enjoy them and I do my very best to make navigation as easy as I can, considering the huge volume of information that is published here. There is reasoning behind the navigation here that is sometimes not apparent. This is due to other sections that I have planned for the future. There are many, many items on the menus that you can't see yet because only I have access to them until they are ready to go live. So, browse the sites like a coffee-table book and use the top menu to find the areas you're interested in.

I'll be publishing an article at some point to help you understand the structure of the websites but essentially, the key is the menu at the top of the page. Just hover over the headings there and then navigate to pages that interest you. Sometimes life is like that and we have to learn something new smiling

I edit and create all of the pages here, it is my hobby, but we have many volunteer members who help out, especially John who spends a great deal of time helping every day and I'm extremely grateful to everyone who helps with the websites in any way, it helps to preserve all of this great info about Technics instruments that is starting to disappear from the Internet.

Q - Can I email you?

A - You're very welcome to use the Contact form or email me on any subject and I will do my very best to answer you. However, Comments and Forum posts get answered first because they help more people. And logged-in members get priority because if you post without logging in we might take a long time in answering you and maybe you'll never return to see our answer smiling

Q - There's not much about organs here is there?

A - I'm a big organ fan but when I started the sites I wanted to make a place that was well-rounded. It was a conscious effort not to focus on organ sounds because these instruments are capable of so many wonderful sounds and organs are just one of them. Members are welcome to post messages about organ sounds all day long smiling

Things might have gone slightly askew though and I'll be posting some more organ info in the future. Look out for a Sound Series coming soon smiling

Other things posted in the Surveys

Some of your answers are great, I have a lot of fun reading the surveys and they help me to see what info you would like me to prioritise, I consider your responses to be very important. Here are answers to a few:

Country Styles - I get asked for Country Styles a lot. This isn't my favourite type of music but I'm going to post new Country Styles as a priority soon because so many of you want them.

MIDI - Lots of you want to know more about MIDI so that is now a very high priority for articles.

Do I know a good estate agent? No, sorry but I'm sure that there are many good ones smiling))))))))) And anyway, what country are you in? Lol.

What cable do I need? Well, first I need a way to contact you back, second I need to know what instrument you have and third I need to know what country you reside in.

Do I have such-and-such manual? All of the manuals are in the Members Area. If you ask me do I have a manual I look in there to find out but it would be quicker for you to look if you don't mind smiling

Can I get such-and-such manual? - We're searching for manuals, scanning them and adding them all the time. If you need a manual very quickly let me know and I will prioritise it. Some manuals can only be purchased, so, when people donate to the website the donations are either spent on hosting fees, admin or on manuals. If you are REALLY desperate for a manual then you can contact me and I'll let you know what donation to make so that I can purchase it but I avoid buying them unless absolutely necessary. We'll get all of them in the end, we're here for the long-haul smiling

Do I know a repair engineer? - I'm compiling a database but there aren't many on it. I need to know your location to help with this query (and I probably can't help much yet).

You don't blog often do you? - I'm not very up with Social Media but I enjoy blogging. I plan to blog a lot more in the future but the websites are my first priority and I have a lot to do on them yet.

Can I write an article for the website? - YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

You send too many Newsletters - Sorry about that, you can unsubscribe but then you might miss something important about your instrument smiling

Why is the registration form so long? This is so that you can let us know what instruments you have or are interested in. When I get rare manuals or other info I send an email ONLY to the members who are interested in particular instruments.

Why do I have to register in order to download files? This is because other websites started using my bandwidth by linking to the files. I can't afford that sorry so the files are for members. The websites run on very fast servers and they use a Content Distribution Network that is worldwide. These are not insubstantial sites and they cost a lot to run.

How much is a KNXXX worth? - I've answered so many emails on this subject, mostly with no response, I don't want to get drawn into this debate thanks, the instrument is worth what you are prepared to pay for it grin

Technics vs Yamaha vs Korg vs Eminent vs Wersi vs Lowri vs Ketron vs Hammond......

I love all types of music and instruments. I play clarinet, saxophone, tenor horn, recorder, triangle and keyboards... you're welcome to discuss any instrument here, however, I don't need to write a comparison article (I'll publish yours if you like) because I already know the answer ;)

Can you email something to me so I don't have to download it? - Probably the file is too big to email or it is in a format that can't be sent by email. Besides that, in my day job I deal with about 150 emails per day and in connection with the websites I deal with probably 30 to 50 emails per day so this is a rather difficult and time-consuming request.

I posted a question and now I can't find it - Go to the members area (your profile). All of your own posts are listed there.

I would like a printed manual - All the manuals are free to download in the members area but I can print and bind a manual for you in return for a donation to the website. Some of the manuals are scans of photocopies and I can't do anything to improve the quality but you'll receive the best quality I can achieve. I can also print large versions of the wiring diagrams from the service manuals if you need them (if we have them). Fill in the contact form or email me for more info.

I might update this from time-to-time as more surveys come in smiling

Have fun and happy playing!
Mike
