Hi Everyone,

You all seem to be enjoying Styles Series Y1. Great!

When releasing these Styles I've only included the Composer files in order to make things simple, to get everyone used to transferring files to their keyboards and trying out new Styles. 200 new Styles that were quick and easy for you to load and adjust. In effect a whole new keyboard's worth of Styles.

The Styles that we're working on now are more complicated. I could release them in the same way but it wouldn't do them justice. So that will involve you learning a bit more about transferring Styles, I hope you're becoming acquainted with the concepts by trying out the first Styles series and also the free Sounds.

Styles Series Y1 supports at least eighteen different models of keyboard. I'm not sure whether owners realise but due to the immense amount of work that goes into this, if we don't receive any feedback for a particular model then we're going to assume that you are not interested in additional Styles for that model.

The next Styles Series is much more work than the first one. We're not going to have them all ready at once so I'm trying to decide whether to release the new Styles in genres or release a few at a time, spread across genres. Another question is whether to support the whole range of keyboards or not.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best wishes,
Mike

Making styles for older KN would be more work. A style created on KN7000 doesn't run on older KNs, but creating a style on KN3000 (for example) will missing all the new things (sounds, effects) from newer KNs. To make the styles sound best, you'll need the 8 parts of a style and the new sounds and DSP.

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

All of the Styles here thus far are edited by myself or John Dawson, so they will always be initiated in KN7000 because that's what we have. However, I didn't start the sites just to support KN7000. For the previous Sounds Series I released files that would support 18 different KN models. They aren't the same files, they are tailored to the model. And they sound great on the earlier models, such as the KN901 I have here. I agree though, if we support older models, we can only provide the basic style and owners will have to adjust and re-voice it themselves. It would be great to hear from volunteers who have older keyboards and might be interested in doing this.

In any event. Keep the feedback coming because it does influence what we do here.

Best wishes,
Mike

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

I'm excited about the coming Tyros 3 styles. I did a straight swap at a music shop (Tyros 3 for my now KN7000) which was an expensive way to go about it but the kn is hard to get hold of and I wasn't impressed with Yamaha anyway. Yes it is very advanced technically but they are soooo lazy when it comes to intros endings and pads in one touch play and frankly most of their rhythms sounded country and western. But anyway I'm still excited. I'd be absolutely ecstatic if there was ever a KN with Yamahas technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

Mel, I admit, I have only ever heard a Tyros of any type on Youtube. I like Yamaha keyboards I must admit but they seem to lack a "thickness" that I can't explain, a sort of density of sound that (I think) the Technics instruments have. Well as I say, I do like them anyway. These Tyros 3 Styles sound absolutely astonishing on the KN7000 in my opinion and I just can't wait to get them out to you, which is why I'm thinking of releasing one genre at a time I'm sure nobody wants to wait until they are all completed do you??!

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

John is starting on Latin and I am starting on Movies & Show because they are our favourites. These will be for KN7000. We'll be needing volunteers to help with the other KN keyboards.

Probably Country will come next because we have got a lot of requests for them.

Do you guys have ideas for what sounds you like in Panel Memories for Country styles? I wasn't brought up listening to Country so I tend to use fiddles and banjos, that ok?

Keep your ideas coming guys grin

Hi Mike, I am lookin forward to the converted Tyros styles. For me personally conversions to KN7000 will do, I am not familiar with other models. I prefer to get the styles by genre because I use to save them by genre on sd for easy finding. Do you have these styles available with the corresponding sounds in panel memory or music style arranger?
Keep up the good work!

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

Hi Nam, We're working through them adjusting volumes, sounds etc and making suitable panel memories Some of the tricky things we're encountering is incorrect octaves for sounds, or notes that sound bad when converted due to how Tyros programming works but we're overcoming all of that.... if some tracks are a disaster they will just have to be muted or deleted but the Style sounds essentially the same because these are usually guitar fret noise or sound effects that don't convert well. We're choosing panel memories that will suit the Style and fit with the KN7000s built-in Stylists. It's going to be a bit of work but that's why it is important to get as much feedback as we can now, so that we suit everyone as much as possible.

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

Hi Mike, I am also looking forward to the Yamaha styles, and any others which come along My mate Keith (whom you know) has just helped me load the last lot on to my SD card, which is now refusing to load into the keyboard. I have had a problem with it for a while where it will not make a connection while the keyboard is turned on, but would read it if I turn the 'board off and then turn it back on. Any clues anyone????
But back to the sounds. I think everyone appreciates the work being put into this exercise and it is only going to make a great keyboard so much greater Many thanks guys for the effort and success.

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

Hi Mike
Thanks again for all the work you put into these projects for us. As a 'style junkie' I can't wait to try some of the Tyros 3 styles on my KN7000 so releasing them as they are ready would be fantastic rather than waiting for the entire collection. And after all, small chunks will keep us in touch with the site on a regular basis.

Cheers

Re: The Next Styles Series - What do You Think?

Ray - That SD Card problem is due to the little door on your KN7000's SD reader surely, you had problems with it before I believe. It's not just a door there's some electronic switch connected to it I believe, perhaps someone can confirm.

Bob - Yes we're going to release in genres and each Style is taking quite a bit more work than anticipated but they are brilliant! Lucky me I have a holiday booked at the end of the week so I'll get more time on converting them smiling

hbinfo100 - Yes they are great I can't wait to get a few out to you... but I also have to work on some better instructions for people who are struggling with transferring to their keyboards.

Hi Mike,
I want to say thanks for everything that you make for us.
I suggest to convert styles from YAMAHA PSR 2000 ORIENTAL.

Hi Iarsen88, That sounds like an interesting project. When we have finished the Tyros 3 project I will give it a go! Thanks for your comment!
