I've had a few queries about making your Technics piano louder and increasing the volume of Technics keyboards.

The obvious way is to buy a keyboard amplifier. However, many of us already have an amplifier at home without realising it....

One of the things that has always impressed me about Technics instruments is the quality of the sound system built in to them. Most of the instruments can also cope with being turned up quite high with little or no distortion.

Another impressive factor with most of the instruments is that they have audio out jacks, allowing you to plug them into an amplifier.

Some people find that the pianos in particular need a boost.

A great way to increase the volume or to give a more immersive feel to your music is to route the instrument through your Home Cinema System, if you have one. In fact, Technics promoted several of the later instruments alongside Panasonic Home Cinema Systems.

It is also a little known fact that many of the later instruments such as KN7000 and the later Digital Ensembles can actually choose which parts are routed out. So you could route your 'backing band' to all corners of your room whilst the instrument just plays a piano out of it's own speakers for instance.

This really lets you feel as though you are sitting in the middle of the band!

Whether or not you re-route separate parts, plugging in to your surround sound system can give a great new aspect to your playing.

Give it a shot!
