Hi to everyone

I am living in New Zealand and have passion for electronic musical keyboards. I have joined up because I have just purchased a KN7000. Great machine Version 1.3. I wonder if anyone knows if I have to upgrade in steps or can I just go straight from 1.3…

I wonder if anyone knows if I have to upgrade in steps or can I just go straight from 1.3 to 1.6 OS. there are some OS floppy discs for sale on ebay and thought it might be benificial to upgrade.
bye for now.
Mike.

Re: Hi to everyone

Welcome Mike,

The ROM upgrades give very marginal benefits. Updates to some of the wording of Help and I think something to do with file handling. Every person I've discussed it with has said that they wouldn't upgrade for these benefits. The reason for that is that if something goes wrong in the upgrade process your keyboard can be 'bricked' i.e. it will be useless if the software becomes damaged. Upgrading doesn't give you more sounds or rhythms or difference in playing functionality.

For that reason (I thought long and hard about it) I haven't publishes the KN7000 ROMs on this site because I don't want to feel responsible for it. Of course I wouldn't be responsible but I would feel it!

So, I hope that puts you off grin but we can talk more about it if you want more details.

Best wishes,
Mike

Re: Hi to everyone

Hello Mike,
thanks for your clear details. from past experience with upgrading other keyboards mainly Korg, I tend to agree with you and will leave the 7000 alone. Now studying the manual and trying to figure out how to use key velocity to create pitch bend and glide without having to us the pitch bend control,
thanks,
Mike.
